Habitat Description:
Dry slopes in ponderosa pine forests, type from near Flagstaff.
Distribution Range:
Coconino, Mohave, and Yavapai counties, mountainous regions south of the Grand Canyon, in central Arizona, mostly along the Mogollon Rim.

Other Notes:
Etymology: nudiflorus- from nudus, "nude or naked" and florus, "flower", apparently referring to the glabrous condition of the flowers, but interpreted by some as meaning nude of flowers, for the very open inflorescence.
