Other Notes:
Penstemon harringtonii is readily recognized both in the field and in the herbarium by its two well-exserted stamens, a character that appears remarkably constant. Judged on the basis of its anthers it is most closely related to P. cyathophorus Rydberg, and it is therefore referred to the section Coerulei (as defined by Pennell, 1935). In general apperance, however, P. harringtonii is more like P. osterhoutii Pennell (same section), to which it was first referred, than it is like P. cyathophorus.
