Habitat Description:
Sandy prairie or open woodland, Wisconsin.
Distribution Range:
Occurs nearly wholly in the Driftless Area from the Wisconsin to the Chippewa river-valleys; apparently passing slightly out of the area into Waushara County.
Other Notes:
This species may be an old survival in the unglaciated territory that it now occupies, but it seems as likely that it has developed from P. gracilis since the glacial recession, and perhaps it had better be considered as a subspecies of it.
