Habitat Description:
Sagebrush and pinyon-juniper communities, usually along washes and canyon floors.
Distribution Range:
South White, Inyo, Last Chance, Grapevine, and Panamint mountains of Inyo County, California and the south end of the Silver Peak Range of Esmeralda County, Nevada, east to Shoshone Mountain and Tolicha Peak of Nye County, Nevada. Kingston mountains, eastern San Bernardino County, California, north to the Margosa Desert, Nevada, east of Death Valley.

Other Notes:
Penstemon floridus is divisible into two geographically replacing varieties. In the southern White Mountains and the southern end of the Silver Peak Range where the two varieties meet, there is apparent hybridization and intergradation.
