Habitat Description: 
Sagebrush slopes and dry plains in valleys and foothills.
Distribution Range: 
Southeast British Columbia and eastern Washington to southeast Oregon, central Idaho, north and eastern Wyoming, adjacent north-central Colorado, and west Nebraska; entering the region on Big Butte, Butte County, Idaho. Spokane County, Washington, north to British Columbia and Alberta, east to the Dakotas, Nebraska, and Wyoming.

Other Notes: 

There are several varieties of Penstemon eriantherus. One of the distinguishing characters of this species is the glandular hairs on the ovary. The glandular hairs of of the inflorescence are sticky enough to serve as fly paper, and the photos for this variety certainly depict this. Notice the many flies that are stuck on the flowers and stem.
