Penstemon albidus has a large distribution throughout the Great Plains of North America, from Texas and Oklahoma to Alberta and Manitoba. The flowers are typically white, with or without magenta guidelines, and have glandular hairs on the palate and inside the corolla throat. Flowers in Texas may have a lavender cast to them, which could be the result of hybridization with Penstemon fendleri (personal observation of hummingbird moths visiting both species where found in sympatry).
