On gravelly or rocky slopes, mesas, and hills of grassland, brushy or wooded areas.
Distribution Range: 
Southern Wyoming through central Colorado to central New Mexico. In Colorado, common across the state along the eastern base of the mountains as well as in North, Middle, and South Parks.
