Distribution Range: 
San Luis Valley, Colorado, in Villa Grove, Saguache Creek, Rock Creek Canyon, Bethel and Willey, Wolf Creek Pass.
Other Notes: 

Unlike the other members of the section, Caespitosi, this species has no decumbent or trailing stems rooting at the nodes. Most herbarium specimens would fail to show that character. With only the slender simple stems it might be easily be confused with P. Crandalli A. Nels.
