Habitat Description: 
Dry exposed slope with sagebrush, Symphoricarpos, and scattered pinyon, juniper, and Cerocarpus trees.
Distribution Range: 
North-central Nevada (West Humboldt and Sonoma ranges, southeast Humboldt and east Pershing counties) and northeast Nevada, Elko County), across south Idaho and north Utah to southwest Montana, west Wyoming, and north Colorado.

Other Notes: 

The north-central Nevada populations, which have been called P. lineolatus Greene, are somewhat shorter with somewhat smaller leaves, but the differences are not appreciable enough to be accorded taxonomic recognition.
