Habitat Description: 
Low hills and plains in blue-gray and red sandy-clay derivatives of the Duchesne River Formation.
Distribution Range: 
Duchesne River Formation; endemic to the vicinity of Tridell and Lapoint, Uintah Co., Utah.

Penstemon goodrichii is closely related to P. marcusii, a species of similar habitats on the other side of the Tavaputs Plateau to the south. The Canyon Lands endemic differs from P. goodrichii.
