Habitat Description: 
From rocky sagebrush flats and hills to juniper- and ponderosa pine-wooded slopes.
Distribution Range: 
Union and Baker counties, Oregon to Valley, Adams, and Washington counties, Idaho. To the east of the species in the Arid Transition Zone; Snake River watershed of eastern Oregon and adjacent Idaho.

Collections of var. oreganus have been taken just north of the boundary in northwestern Oregon where the distributions of the two varities dovetail.
