Sagebrush flats and hills, especially in basaltic areas.

Southwest Idaho from Blaine County west to Washington, Payette, Canyon, and Owyhee counties and in east Oregon in south Union, Baker, east Grant, Harney, and Malheur counties. Upper Sonoran Zone, on the banks of Powder River or Eagle Creek, northeast Oregon.
